REVERSI LOADING: Load "reversi" or LOAD"" METHOD OF PLAY: The game of REVERSI is for 2 players, you and the computer. You use white chips, the computer black ones. Players take turns to place a single chip on an empty square of the board in such a way as to capture one or more of the opponent's chips. The object of the game is to capture more chips than your opponent. Chips are captured by bracketing a number of your opponents chips between two of your's in a straight line, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The bracketed chips then become your own. If you cannot make a valid move, your opponent plays again. If he cannot make a move either, or the board is full, the game is over and the player with the larger number of chips is the winner. MOVES: A square is selected by keying in the row number, marked along the left-hand edge of the board, then a space, then the column number marked along the top edge of the board. If the move is illegal, "??" is displayed and you will be prompted to select another square. At any time, you can enter an option character instead of a move value. OPTIONS: b - backup. This facility allows you to correct a bad move by going back one or several moves. Enter either a play number to back up to, or a negative number of moves. e.g. enter 5 to go back to move 5 or -1 to go back 1 move or -2 to go back 2 moves If you enter 0, a game can be pre-loaded. This mode enables you to set up any game on the board by entering both your's and the computer's moves from the keyboard. Moves obey the normal rules except that 'p' can be used to allow a player to 'pass' i.e. avoid making a move, and 's' causes the game to start in the normal way from the situation as set up. This mode can also be used to allow two people to play, with the second person entering the computer's moves. f - file save. The current game can be saved on cassette by means of this option. The 'i' option allows such a saved game to be reloaded. i - input game. Load the game saved with the 'f' option. The game may then be continued. The game level need not be the same as for the saved game. l - list moves. Produce a move summary on the screen. n - new game. Start a new game. Level and first player unchanged. s - new game.
